billetes_en_la_boca_120Public Eye Awards: Which was the worst company of 2010?  There are prizes that no one wants to receive.  This is the case with the Public Eye Awards; awards with which the critics of
globalizatio want to punish the "worst company of the year."  One of the candidates for the "prize of shame" is the South African mining company, AngloGold Ashanti.

 

The awarding of those "prizes of shame" coincides with the holding of the World Economic Forum, which began this morning in Davos.

The winner of the Public Eye Awards will be announced next Friday.  Until then, those interested can cast their votes on the Internet for the "worst company of 2010."  Currently in the lead, the Finnish biodiesel company, Neste Oil, which "antiglobalists" accuse of buying palm oil from Indonesia and Malaysia, and therefore contributing to the destruction of the natural habitats of in those two countries.

In second place is the oil company, BP, of which the Gulf of Mexico spill has been in the spotlight for the past two months, according to Spiegel.

The tobacco company Philipp Morris will, for the time being, hold the bronze medal of the Public Eye Awards.  According to the prize organizers, "This company fights hard against the anti-tobacco law in Uruguay and therefore places the public health of this country in danger."

Other candidates for "prizes of shame" are the South African mining company, AngloGold Ashanti; the Swiss energy company, Axpo and Foxconn; and the Taiwanese manufacturer of iPhones.
